A scroll-driven folding tutorial

The Art of the
Paper Plane

Six folds stand between you and clear blue skies. Scroll on — our copilot will glide alongside every step.

Let’s fold a dart

Keep scrolling — the plane glides alongside, and each fold lands in turn.

  1. 1

    Grab a sheet

Start with a regular A4 (or letter) sheet in portrait. Smooth out any wrinkles — crisp, flat paper flies farthest.

  2. 2

    Crease the spine

Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, press a sharp crease, then unfold it again. This center line is the runway every other fold follows.

  3. 3

    Corner the nose

Fold the top-left and top-right corners inward so their edges meet exactly on the center crease. You’ve just built the nose.

  4. 4

    Sharpen the point

Fold the new slanted edges into the center line a second time. A sharper nose cuts the air cleaner and stalls less.

  5. 5

    Fold it shut

Fold the whole thing along the original center crease with all previous folds on the outside, like closing a book.

    Set the wings

Fold each side down to make the wings, matching their angles. Small up-bent wingtips add lift. Gentle throw — and you’re airborne.

Ready for takeoff?

Smooth the creases, tilt the nose up a touch, and let it glide.
